Joleon Lescott had a superb season for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2000-01 and, after making his first-team debut in August, he went on to feature regularly throughout the campaign only losing his place when Paul Butler arrived at Molineux in the New Year.

A powerful central defender, he produced some superb displays for one so young and even scored two goals himself including a header to earn Wanderers a point at Wimbledon.

Previously capped for England at Under-17 level, he stepped up to appear for the Under-18s in 2000-01.

Joleon is the younger brother of Aaron Lescott, formerly of Sheffield Wednesday.

His contract at Wolves was extended to June 2008 in October 2005.

He joined Everton in June 2006 with a four-year contract that was extended to June 2012 in March 2008.

Joleon joined Manchester City in August 2009 with a five-year contract.

He formed a formidable central defensive partnership with captain Vincent Kompany to help guide City to their first Premier League title in 2011-12 and became a key figure in England's plans for Euro 2012.

Joleon joined West Bromwich Albion in July 2014 with a two-year contract.

He joined Aston Villa in September 2015 with a two-year contract.

Joleon joined Sunderland in January 2017 with a contract to June 2017.
