League position: 20th Aston Villa were now 15 points adrift of 17th position and safety with only five games to play. Villa had now lost their last eight league games. Only once before have suffered more consecutive defeats in the league. They lost 11 in a row from 23 March to 4 May in 1963 in League Division One. Jordan Ayew scored his first Premier League goal since December, ending a personal run of ten games without scoring. Jordan Ayew was booked in the second minute of added time in the second half shortly after AFC Bournemouth’s substitution.

Josh King had now scored five goals for the Cherries in this Premier League season. He managed only five league goals in three seasons in the League Championship with Blackburn Rovers. Steve Cook scored in the second minute of added time in the first half. Callum Wilson replaced Josh King in the second minute of added time in the second half.
