Comments:

League position: 20th Aston Villa were now nine points adrift of safety in the Premier League's relegation zone. Only three of the previous 23 sides who were bottom of the Premier League on Christmas Day had gone on to avoid relegation. They were bottom of the top division at Christmas for only the third time in their history and were relegated on both previous occasions (1935-36 and 1958-59). Villa had now won just one of their last 15 games on a Boxing Day (lost nine). This draw extended their club record to 17 games without a league win.

Comments:

League position: 10th West Ham United had now drawn five consecutive top division games for the first time since October 1968. The Hammers had now gained 16 points in their away games in the Premier League so far in this season which was their total in the entire 2014-15 season.
