Macclesfield Town v Hull City, 26 August 2000

Both teams were still seeking for their first League win of the season as, despite of plenty of chances at either end, it was the goalkeepers who took the honours. It was the proverbial game of two halves with the visitors enjoying the balance of play before the break. City felt agreived on 15 minutes when referee Curson turned down their penalty appeals when David Brown fell under keeper Tony Bullock's challenge. The former Barnsley gloveman's best moment came when he tipped over Mark Greaves' powerful header from Lee Philpott's right-wing corner. Macc's best chance came with only seven minutes to go. Kieran Durkan sped away from the Hull defenders, but a poor touch allowed Lee Bracey to rush out and smother. A confident display was sweet revenge for the City custodian as he was controversially sent-off in the corresponding fixture at Boothferry Park on this weekend last season.
