Well, here we are, 4 games into the 2026/27 Premier League season, and things are already looking eerily similar to how they looked this time last year.
Arsenal currently sit top of the table, level on points with Man City, but with a better goal difference, yet big names such as Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United are several places adrift. As of this writing, it’s currently Leeds United in 3rd, and Hull City in 4th place. So, does this mean you should all run down to your local bookmakers to put your money on Leeds or The Tigers? Well, you could, but the bookies don’t seem to think they’ll be title contenders come the end of the season.

Arsenal
Currently, it’s last season’s victors, Arsenal, whom the bookies are backing to do the double. In fact, right now, Scs.ie has Irish bookmakers BOYLE Sports and Quinnbet offering The Gunners at odds of 4/6 to lift the trophy at the end of the season.
Under Arteta, Arsenal appear, to be improving each and every season. Despite a nervy display against Sunderland on Saturday night, The Gunners ultimately emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over the Black Cats, though that scoreline perhaps doesn’t reflect how close that game actually was.
As of this writing, it’s four wins in four for Arsenal in the league, along with a Champions League victory last week. With Saka now finding the net again, The Gunners are definitely going to be worth keeping your eyes on.
Manchester City
Remember the glory days of football, when the EPL’s biggest rivalry was Man Utd v Arsenal, Fergie vs Wenger, and Keane vs Vierra? Well, these days Arsenal have new northern rivals from Manchester, this time kitted out in blue.
Man City have accomplished a heck of a lot over the last decade or so, and even though Pep Guardiola is no longer with the club, thus far it doesn’t seem to have phased them, and Maresca seems to be fitting in nicely.
Of course, it’s the Norwegian Viking Erling Haaland that has been the difference maker in recent years, and this season it doesn’t look to be any different, even after a “questionable” goal against local rivals, Man Utd over the weekend. Ultimately, City won that match 1 – 0, even after Phil Foden lost his head and was sent off in the 23rd minute. With that kind of heart, surely they are serious contenders?
City currently sit level on points with Arsenal, with four wins out of four in the league. If you fancy backing them this season, you’ll get odds of 9/4 with both BOYLE Sports and Quinnbet.
Chelsea

Liverpool
Liverpool may not have got off to a flying start this season, but with one win and three draws out of four games, The Reds are still undefeated, and that is quite the achievement considering the quality of football on offer this season.
Andoni Iraola now seems to be finding his feet, and with Isak looking sharp and composed, Liverpool fans will have a lot to feel confident about this season, even after a frustrating 0 – 0 against Fulham at the weekend.

Manchester United

(Seriously, can we all now admit that it’s killing the game?)
