Chelsea bidding for European qualification boost against Manchester United

The race for Champions League qualification could take a decisive turn this evening, with two of the main contenders in action on home soil.

Chelsea head into their game against Manchester United fifth in the standings, level on points with Aston Villa with two matches remaining.

Villa, who host Tottenham Hotspur on Friday, are just one point ahead of Nottingham Forest. The Blues visit Forest in their final Premier League game.

With the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League set to go down to the wire, fans will be clamouring to find live streams of all the games.

The clash between Chelsea and Man United will undoubtedly generate plenty of activity on Hesgoal TV, which is one of the most popular sites in the internet for watching free live football streams.

Viewers will likely be treated to an entertaining affair between two sides who still have plenty to play for over the next couple of weeks.

Chelsea’s recent defeat at Newcastle United left them hanging onto fifth place ahead of their remaining two games against United and Forest.

The Blues will be confident heading into this evening’s fixture having been defeated just twice in the league at Stamford Bridge this season.

They are unbeaten across their last four competitive meetings with Man United on home soil dating back to February 2021.

Manager Enzo Maresca has a handful of selection issues for the game, most notably in attack due to Nicolas Jackson’s absence through suspension.

The striker was red-carded at St James’ Park last weekend after deliberately elbowing Newcastle defender Sven Botman in the face.

With Christopher Nkunku and Marc Guiu sidelined, Maresca will need to be creative with his team selection this evening following Jackson’s mindless antics.

Wesley Fofana and Omari Kellyman are also absent, while loanee Jadon Sancho is unable to feature against his parent club at the Bridge.

Man United extended their winless run in the Premier League to seven matches after slipping to a dismal 2-0 home defeat against West Ham United last weekend.

They are on course to record their worst ever finish in the Premier League and could feasibly end the campaign just one place above the relegation zone.

A record of six wins in 25 league matches since Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag as manager in November is not good enough for a club of United’s stature.

However, the club could still salvage something from the wreckage of an underwhelming season by winning the Europa League next week.

Their involvement in the final in Bilbao will likely result in Amorim playing a weakened team at Chelsea, which makes the home side a good bet to win the game.

Joshua Zirkzee, Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot will miss the match, while Leny Yoro is doubtful after picking up a foot injury last weekend.

Promising defender Ayden Heaven has travelled with the squad, but is unlikely to feature after only just returning from injury.

Chelsea possible starting XI

(4-2-3-1): Sanchez, James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella, Caicedo, Fernandez, Madueke, Palmer, George, Neto.

Manchester United possible starting XI:

(3-4-2-1): Bayindir, Fredricson, Lindelof, Shaw, Kamason, Eriksen, Ugarte, Amass, Mainoo, Garnacho, Obi.

Chelsea vs Manchester United prediction

Amorim has made it clear that the Europa League is United’s priority, which should hand Chelsea a useful advantage in a crucial game for them.

The Blues had been in excellent form prior to last weekend’s defeat at Newcastle and are strongly fancied to get back on track against the Red Devils.

Chelsea 3-1 Manchester United.
