Best football boots by player performance in the Premier League 2022/23

The 2022/23 Premier League season provided plenty of thrills and spills, with issues at both ends of the table going down to the final weekend.

A feature of the campaign was the number of players who consistently delivered exceptional performances to help their clubs achieve their aims.

With that in mind, we take a closer look at the players who stood out and assess which football boots they wore to boost their performances.

Erling Braut Haaland – Manchester City

If you like scoring goals and can find cheap football boots with the moniker ‘Nike Phantom GX’ on them, you would be well-advised to snap them up.

They are the boots worn by Manchester City striker Erling Braut Haaland, who enjoyed a remarkable debut season in the Premier League.

Haaland scored 36 league goals last term, breaking the previous record of 34 set by Andrew Cole (1993/94) and Alan Shearer (1994/95).

The Norwegian international ended the season as a treble-winner, with Man City also claiming victory in the finals of the FA Cup and Champions League.

Lisandro Martinez – Manchester United

Lisandro Martinez made a mockery of claims that he was too small to play centre-back in the Premier League by enjoying a fine campaign with Manchester United.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was ultimately forced to backtrack on his nonsensical comments after Martinez consistently demonstrated his class.

He used his adidas X Speedportal.1 boots to great effect, forging a solid partnership alongside Raphael Martinez in the heart of United’s defence.

Their carbon heel lock and stability fins for a secure fit at high speeds proved to be the perfect combination for a player who is already a United cult hero.

Martin Odegaard – Arsenal

Arsenal defied expectations to mount a title bid last season, although they ultimately ran out of steam and were overhauled by Man City.

However, the Gunners can console themselves with the fact that their runners-up finish means they will return to the Champions League next season.

One of their standout performers was Martin Odegaard, who is finally showing why Real Madrid were so desperate to sign him as a teenager.

His Nike Mercurial Vapor 15 boots were at the centre of Arsenal’s attacking play for much of the season, helping him bag 15 goals and eight assists in 37 league games.

Rodri – Manchester City

While Haaland stole many of the headlines for Man City last season, students of the game recognise just how important Rodri is to their team set-up.

The Spanish midfielder is the ‘glue’ that holds everything together – the player who stops the opposition playing and gets City rolling forward.

His Nike Phantom GX DF boots are the flashiest thing about Rodri, with his ‘team-first’ ethic making him a vital cog in Pep Guardiola’s well-oiled machine.

When it comes to setting the standard for defensive midfielders, there is undoubtedly no better exponent of the art than Rodri.
