Youngest player records tumble to Ethan Nwareri

Ethan Nwaneri was selected on Arsenal’s subs bench for the first time today (18 September 202) in their Premier League game at Brentford.

Born 21 March 2007 and aged 15 years and 181 days, he came on as a late substitute to become the youngest-ever player to appear in:

·  the top division, in place of Derek Forster for Sunderland against Leicester City in League Division One on 22 August 1964, aged 15 years and 185 days.

·  in the Premier League – a record previously held by Harvey Elliott for Fulham against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 4 May 2019, aged 16 years and 30 days.

·  for Arsenal in a game in a senior competition – previously held by Cesc Fabregas against Rotherham United in the League Cup on 28 October 2003, aged 16 years and 177 days.
