Numerous big-money moves have been completed during the 2025 summer transfer window and the trend will continue over the next few weeks.
While some clubs have been spending as if their lives depended on it, many others have adopted a more pragmatic approach to their summer transfer business.
With that in mind, read on as we look at five under the radar signings who could prove to be extremely shrewd acquisitions by their respective clubs.
Jonathan David – Lille to Juventus
Canada international forward Jonathan David was linked with several clubs before securing a free transfer switch to Juventus.
David’s arrival in Serie A will trigger increased activity on the sportsbooks connected to the top 10 online casinos in Canada as Canuck punters wager on Juve to win the league.
Canadian sports bettors will fancy their chances of hitting the jackpot given David’s hugely impressive goalscoring record at club and international level.
He has scored 146 goals in 315 appearances in club football and added another 36 in 67 games for Canada. He could be a good bet to win the Golden Boot in Italy.
Joe Rothwell – Leeds United to Rangers
Russell Martin’s appointment as Rangers manager did not meet with universal approval with the club’s fans following his dismal spell with Southampton in the Premier League.
However, his decision to sign midfielder Joe Rothwell from Bournemouth could help to get the fans on board with his vision for the Scottish Premiership giants.
Rothwell had a productive loan spell under Martin during Southampton’s promotion-winning season in the Championship and will relish the chance to shine with Rangers.
The 30-year-old ran the show in Rangers’ Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos in midweek and will be the heartbeat of their team this season.
Roony Bardghji – FC Copenhagen to Barcelona
Barcelona’s decision to sign FC Copenhagen winger Roony Bardghji for an initial fee of around £1.7 million could turn out to be the bargain of the summer.
The teenager burst onto the scene two years ago in the Champions League but his progress was curtailed by an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
He scored 11 goals in 2023/24, including one in Copenhagen’s surprise 4-3 victory over Manchester United in Europe, before suffering the injury in May 2024.
Bardghji has recovered from the setback after ten months on the sidelines and will be eager to prove he has what it takes to be a star in La Liga.
Nestory Irankunda – Bayern Munich to Watford
Championship club Watford raised plenty of eyebrows when they signed Australian winger Nestory Irankunda from Bayern Munich on a five-year deal.
Irankunda has been widely tipped to become a top player, despite failing to secure regular first team opportunities with the reigning Bundesliga champions.
Watford manager Paulo Pezzolano was keen to add an explosive winger to his squad and the 19-year-old has the talent to blow Championship teams away.
Irankunda previously won the A-League’s Young Player of the Year award in 2023/24 and his move to Watford will boost his chances of featuring for Australia at the World Cup next year.
Amario Cozier-Duberry – Brighton & Hove Albion to Bolton Wanderers
Bolton Wanderers could be a good bet to win promotion to the Championship after making several noteworthy signings during the summer transfer window.
Their loan acquisition of young winger Amario Cozier-Duberry from Brighton & Hove Albion is particularly noteworthy given the experience he has already garnered.
The former Arsenal Under-21 player spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers and showed plenty of ability as they narrowly missed out on the play-offs.
A season in League One should speed up his development and strengthen Bolton’s chances of climbing back into the second tier.
