Premier League Player of the Season 2025/26: Top Five Contenders

The Premier League Player of the Season award is undoubtedly one of the most coveted individual prizes in English football.

The battle to win the prestigious award is always fiercely fought and generally triggers plenty of intertest amongst sports bettors each season.

Punters can wager on who they think will win the award on the sportsbook connected to RTbet Casino, and the market looks wide open this year.

It generally pays to focus on players who ply their trade with the biggest clubs when trying to predict who will get their hands on the trophy.

Kevin Phillips (Sunderland – 1999/2000) was the last player who did not play for one of the so-called ‘Big Six’ clubs in the Premier League to scoop the award.

With that in mind, read on as we pick out four players who we believe will be in the running to win the 2025/26 Player of the Season prize.

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool

Mohamed Salah was a standout performer for Liverpool last season, bagging 29 goals and 18 assists in 38 league appearances to help them win the title.

Salah was one of the most deserving Player of the Season Winners in recent memory having carried the Reds on his back for much of the campaign.

He equalled Andy Cole and Alan Shearer’s records for the most goal contributions in a single Premier League season during the 2024/25 campaign.

The Egyptian forward is expected to enjoy another productive season as Liverpool strive to win the Premier League title for just the third time.

Cole Palmer – Chelsea

Despite enduring a topsy-turvy season with Chelsea, Cole Palmer was among the nominees for the Player of the Season award last term.

He registered 15 goals and nine assists in 37 appearances, helping the Blues secure a fourth-place finish in the Premier League table and a return to the UEFA Champions League.

Palmer was hugely influential in Chelsea’s successes in the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup to cement his status as a key player.

With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, the 23-year-old will be eager to demonstrate why many people think England manager Thomas Tuchel should build the team around him.

Bruno Fernandes – Manchester United

Manchester United finished 15th in the Premier League last season, and may well have been relegated but for Bruno Fernandes’ efforts.

The Portuguese playmaker won several games single-handedly and finished the season with eight goals and 11 assists. He should improve on those statistics this term.

The Red Devils have strengthened their attacking options this summer, signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. They will help Fernandes be even more productive.

Fernandes has never previously won the Premier League Player of the Season award, but could be a good bet to achieve the feat in 2025/26.

Martin Zubimendi – Arsenal

Despite breaking their transfer record to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United in 2023, Arsenal have been unable to end their lengthy Premier League title drought.

However, the acquisition of midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad could ultimately prove to be the move which turns the Gunners into winners again.

The Spain international will provide Mikel Arteta’s side with the craft and guile they have been sorely lacking in the centre of the park in recent seasons.

His presence in the team will allow Rice to play a little further forward, which should ensure that he finally delivers what was expected from him when he initially signed for the club.
