This 30-year-old attacking midfielder has scored a total of 23 goals in the 38 matches he played in the 2021/22 season, sharing the Golden Boot with Tottenham’s Son Heung-min. With 13 assists in the same year, he won the Premier League’s Playmaker of the Season award for the most assists.  

  1. Christiano Ronaldo – Manchester United

The Portuguese legend made headlines when he moved from Juventus to Manchester United at the beginning of last season after a 12-year absence. In the 30 Premier League appearances he made, Christiano made 18 goals, showcasing an impressive individual season. 

  1. Son Heung-min – Tottenham Hotspur

Touted as one of the greatest Asian footballers of all time, this South Korean professional footballer scored 23 goals in the 2021/22 season. He won the Golden Boot (as the first Asia to do so) alongside Mohammed Salah. 

  1. Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur

As a professional football player for the Premier League and England’s national team captain, Harry Kane has made a name for himself as one of the world’s best strikers. He received his fourth Golden Boot during the 2020/21 season. The dynamic duo of Harry and Son-Heung-min teamed up for 14 goal combinations. As the Premier League Playmaker of the season, Harry became only the third player to win both these titles simultaneously in the same season. 

  1. N’golo Kante – Chelsea

The defensive midfielder Frenchman joined Chelsea football club in July 2016. He averages 51 passes per match with a completion rate of 87%. He made 26 appearances in the 2021/22 season, 4 assists and playing 1,777 minutes. Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger is on record commenting that Kante is something you don’t find often. 

  1. Darwin Nunez – Liverpool

The Uruguay international made headlines in his 2021/22 season with Benfica where he scored 34 goals in just 41 appearances. This came as a massive improvement from his performance the previous year where he only scored 13 goals in 43 games. 

  1. Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City

In his 30 appearances in the 2021/22 season, this Belgian professional football player scored 15 premier league goals. During the previous season, De Bruyne scored six goals and provided 12 assists in the 25 league appearances he made. 

Other players that are likely to make headlines include Erling Haaland who plays for Manchester City, Trent Alexander Arnold who joined Liverpool in 2016, and Declan Rice who is rumoured to be leaving West Ham at the start of the 2022/23 season.
