As we approach the end of 2019, we look at some of the greatest talents to grace the English Premier League from 2010 to the 2019/2020 season. In a league conspicuously deprived of the magical duo of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, we have witnessed some of the game’s biggest talents doing what they do best week after another. As you enjoy betting on the EPL with Betway, check out our selected team of the decade.
David De Gea
De Gea joined Manchester United at the beginning of the 2011/2012 season, and has gone on to establish himself as one of the safest pair of hands not only over the decade, but also in the history of the premier league. For five seasons, he has made it into the team of the season.
He may not have won any trophy with Everton, but Baines has to be one of the most consistent performers in his position. The former toffees Vice-Captain has been a regular fixture since he joined in 2010, going on to make over 250 appearances in the blue shirt. He has twice been nominated in the EPL team of the season.
The former Chelsea captain would have comfortably slotted into any European team. That is how immense Terry was as a defender. He made 492 appearances for Chelsea, winning 5 titles in the process.
Big Vince captained Manchester City between 2010 and 2019 before leaving for Anderlecht in his native Belgium. He has been a reliable defender over the years, giving match-winning as well as title winning performances on his day.
Another Mr. dependable who played for Tottenham Hotspurs before making a big-money switch to the Etihad, where he won the EPL in his first season. He may be approaching his sunset days at top level, but this has certainly been his decade.
When N’Golo Kante joined Chelsea from surprise packages Leicester City, everyone knew what a talent Chelsea had got. The diminutive midfielder is constantly the soloist in every choir he joins, and fitness permitting, we’ll see much of him in years to come.
He was the midfield maestro in the EPL before the arrival of Kante, winning three titles with Manchester City. He may have left City unceremoniously, but there was no denying his impact in the league.
Silva has made over 230 appearances in the sky blue shirt, becoming arguably one of the most influential midfielders of modern football. He is the undisputed king of assists in the EPL, about to pass the mantle to Kevin De Bruyne.
EPL fans were lucky Real Madrid did not come for their man earlier, because they would certainly have been deprived of some incredible talent. It is enough to say he was the backbone of Chelsea Football Club.
The Argentinian secured City their first title in 2012, and he’s been their most prolific weapon in front of goal ever since. He has gone on to win three more EPL trophies with City, scoring more than 172 goals in the process. You can always bet on him to score with Betway every week of domestic football.
Robin Van Persie
It may sound like RVP left the EPL a long time ago, but it was only in 2015 when he left Manchester United for Turkey. He scooped back to back golden boot awards between two spells with both Arsenal and Manchester United, scoring more than 50 goals for both teams.
