Here’s a selection of some of the leading stats and facts from the New Year round of Premier League games.

Watford have now lost their opening league game of a year for the last six consecutive seasons.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League home games (won seven).

19 goals have been scored at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium so far in this Premier League season; fewer than at any other ground.

Everton’s Leighton Baines has become the third defender to score 30 goals in the Premier League (also John Terry 40 and David Unsworth 38).

Burnley lost at Manchester City for the first time since 29 December 2001 when Paulo Wanchope netted a hat-trick in a 5-1 win in League Division 1 at Maine Road.

Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe has become the fourth player to score ten or more goals in ten different Premier League seasons (also Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard).
