A week after the same two teams recorded the lowest-ever First Division attendance, Wimbledon narrowly avoided the ignominy of becoming the new holders of the lowest-ever League Cup attendance. The record remains at 612 for the First Round, 2nd leg meeting of Halifax Town and Tranmere Rovers on 6 September 2000. The tie was played at Bradford City's Valley Parade as Halifax Town's Shay was unavailable for evening games. The floodlights were out of action due to redevelopment work and Tranmere Rovers were unwilling to agree to an earlier kick-off.
