Lee was plucked from Burnley's reserve team by Rotherham United following the departure of Leo Fortune-West and, although he took a while to net his first goal, he never looked back once he had made the breakthrough.
A strong and very quick striker, he grabbed his first-ever Football League hat-trick in the 3- 1 home win against Cambridge United in February and went on to reach double figures.
Lee joined Cardiff City in August 2003 in a three-year deal.
He then joined Ipswich Town in January 2006 with a contract to June 2008.
Lee joined Crystal Palace in August 2008 with a three-year contract.
He joined Huddersfield Town in August 2010 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2013 in July 2012.
Lee re-joined Ipswich Town in August 2013 on non-contract terms.
