Manager Bingo: Who’s next to be linked with Spurs?

It’s fair to say that the hunt for a new manager to take over at Spurs is so far not going to plan. Despite a long list of potential candidates, the search continues and it doesn’t appear that the club is any closer to an appointment.

We’ve been linked with every man and his dog, so much so that it would be quite easy to sit at home and enjoy a game of manager bingo, marking off the names as we go. But with so many ruled out, who are now actually the favourites to take on the role?

Graham Potter

At one point Pochettino was odds-on to make a Spurs return, and since there’s been a raft of high profile managers linked, but it’s Graham Potter that could be the next bingo ball to be drawn with him priced at 6/4 with most bookies and online trading sites.

It’s not believed Brighton have had any approach just yet, while Glenn Hoddle has also expressed his concern about potentially appointing Potter, claiming that he may not be able to cope with the pressure. It is undoubtedly a step up for the Brighton manager, but his experience in the dugout so far has been relatively impressive. It’s just how natural that step up will be.

Nuno Espirito Santo

When Nuno revealed he’d be leaving Wolves at the end of the season, it seemed almost nailed on that he’d fill the vacancy at Spurs. It’s a move that could still happen and Football.London recently predicted how his first season at the club could play out.

It feels like the logical appointment, but one that could go the same way as Mourinho, which is perhaps why it’s a deal that hasn’t already been made.

Roberto Martinez

He’s priced at 6/1 and it’s certainly a risky move with Martinez’s club football record not ending too positively before moving on to the Belgian national side. What he has done at Belgium though is prove he can work with top players.

Martinez has also been linked to a return to Everton, as has Nuno, which again poses problems in the hunt for a new man at Spurs.

Erik Ten Hag

Erik Ten Hag has been on the shortlist for some time now and it could prove a shrewd appointment with the Ajax manager having enjoyed a great spell at the club, particularly the work he’s done with the youngsters at the club. He has a win percentage of 74% and it’s believed he would be interested in a move to the club. But an appointment is needed sooner rather than later, with the Euros not far off completion and the pre-season beginning.
