How the A-League season is shaping up

The 2020/21 A-League season rumbles on this weekend with all of the teams eager to start stringing together a run of victories.

With the campaign just a few weeks old, every team has already lost at least one game, highlighting the competitive nature of the competition.

That factor makes it an intriguing proposition from a wagering perspective, and punters from Down Under can bet on the A-League with any of New Zealand’s football betting sites. Read on as we take a look at some of the main talking points in the A-League ahead of the latest round of fixtures.

Sydney FC on a recovery mission

Sydney FC face expansion club Macarthur FC this weekend aiming to bounce back from their recent home defeat against Central Coast Mariners.

They remain favourites to retain the title but will need to improve their performances if they are to live up to expectations this season.

The reigning champions have won just once in three outings this term and are unlikely to find things easy at Campbelltown Stadium.

Ante Milicic’s side have picked up seven points from their first four matches, although they are yet to record a victory on their own patch.

A cracker in store in Brisbane

Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United will bid to build on their respectable starts to the campaign when they meet at Dolphin Stadium on Saturday.

Roar lost their opening game of the season, before defeating Melbourne Victory and Newcastle Jets to move into the top half of the table.

Dylan Wenzel-Halls and Riku Danzaki have been in fine form for Brisbane during the early part of the campaign and could prove troublesome to United’s defence.

Adelaide have won two and drawn one of their four outings to date, but are still searching for their first victory on the road.

Wanderers aiming to shoot down the Jets

Western Sydney Wanderers face Newcastle Jets this weekend aiming to record their first home victory of the season.

Wanderers head into the game third in the table after winning twice on the road, and they will be eager to transfer that form onto their own patch.

The two sides have already met once this season, with goals by Ziggy Gordon and Tate Russell securing a 2-1 success for the Wanderers.

Newcastle finally got off the mark for the season with a 2-1 win over Wellington Phoenix, but they could struggle to repeat the trick this weekend.

United out to continue dominance Over Victory

Western United and Melbourne Victory have both defeated Perth Glory in the past week and will be keen to follow up this weekend.

Both sides are currently in the bottom half of the table but a victory for either side this weekend would fire them up the standings.

United won all three fixtures between the two sides last season and will fancy their chances of continuing their dominance against their local rivals.

Victory will be without Rudy Gestede and Callum McManaman for the game and their absence could hinder their chances of picking up a positive result.
