CONCACAF Nations League, 2020

Introduced in 2018, the CONCACAF Nations League is an international competition contested by the national teams of the member associations of CONCACAF.
To initially seed the 41 nations into their respective leagues, the new competition began with a one-off qualifying phase played across four rounds from September 2018 to March 2019. This determines the composition of the leagues for the group phase.
34 teams took part in the qualifying stage. The six nations that participated in the fifth round of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification (Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago and USA) were excluded, along with Guatemala who could not enter due to a FIFA suspension imposed in October 2016.
In the qualifying stage, each team plays four games; two at home and two away.
On the completion of the qualifying games, the teams are divided into tiers for the group phase of the inaugural edition of the Nations League.
The top ten teams in the qualifying phase also qualify for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The group phase consists of three tiered leagues to be played in the official FIFA match windows in September, October, and November 2019.
Dependent on their qualifying performance, the teams will be designated into Leagues A, B, and C.
Each league is then divided into four groups which will include promotion and relegation. They will compete in a home-and-away, round-robin format.

League A:
12 teams, consisting of the six excluded participants (see above) and the top six teams from qualifying, split into four groups of three teams. The four group winners will qualify to the Nations League final championship to be played in March 2020 which will determine the winner of the new competition. The four teams finishing at the bottom of each group will be relegated to League B for the next edition.
League B:
Consists of the 16 teams from qualifying that finished in 7th to 22nd positions in the initial league table. It will contain four groups of four teams. The four group winners will be promoted to League A, while the four teams finishing at the bottom of each group will be relegated to League C for the next edition.
League C:
Consists of the remaining 13 teams from qualifying that finished in 23rd to 34th positions in the initial league table, along with Guatemala (see above). It will contain four groups (three groups of three teams and one group of four). The four group winners will be promoted to League B for the next edition.
