Arsenal vs Tottenham betting preview with odds and prediction

Premier League football returns after the international break as Arsenal take on Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby on Saturday lunchtime.

The hiatus came at the wrong time for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta’s side have enjoyed an excellent start to the new season. An impressive 3-0 win at Brentford last time out ensured Arsenal went into the break sitting top of the Premier League table having won six of their opening seven matches.

The Gunners sit one point ahead of defending champions Manchester City so they can cement their position with another victory over Tottenham at the Emirates on Saturday ahead of City’s clash with Man Utd the following day.

However, Spurs have also enjoyed a terrific start to the new season as they sit third in the table just a point behind Arsenal. Antonio Conte’s men remain unbeaten having won five and drawn two of their seven matches, and they can go top of the table with a win in the NLD derby this weekend.

Betting odds

There is going to be a huge amount of interest in this game in the betting markets so bookmakers are going to be vying for your business. Therefore, it’s important to look around for the best offers.  For more information go to TheInternetSlots where you’ll find the latest bonuses being offered by betting sites.

North London Derbies are always tricky to predict as anything can happen. However, Arsenal are priced as the 19/20 favourites so the betting markets believe we’ll see a home win this weekend. Tottenham can be backed at 13/5 to take all three points back to White Hart Lane while the draw is also priced at 13/5.

Arsenal are in terrific form and they’ll be confident of getting the job done on home soil. A 3-1 win for the Gunners looks tempting at 12/1 but we like the look of a 2-1 win at odds of 7/1.

Gabriel Jesus has settled well at the Emirates following his summer move and the Brazilian is 4/1 to open the scoring in this game. Harry Kane usually scores in this fixture so he’s a good bet to score anytime at 8/5.

Team news

Arsenal will need to check on the fitness of several players ahead of the game. Thomas Partey has returned home early from international duty after complaining of a knee issue while away with Ghana so he’s a doubt.

Kieran Tierney will also need to be assessed after picking up a head injury playing for Scotland while Martin Odegaard has been carrying a knock. Oleksandr Zinchenko is struggling with a calf injury while Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson and Cedric Soares are also injury doubts for Arsenal.

Mohamed Elneny is certain to miss the game with a serious hamstring issue so Arteta has mounting fitness concerns to deal with.

As for Tottenham, they’ll hope Hugo Lloris is able to shake off a minor knock to start in goal while Lucas Moura will need to be checked due to a calf injury. Ben Davies is also set for a late fitness test on a knee issue.

Prediction

This promises to be an exciting game between two in-form teams who are battling it out at the top of the table. However, as the home team Arsenal will have the advantage and we’re expecting them to edge it at the Emirates.

Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham
