Summer Transfer Window: 3 World Cup Stars Eyed by Premier League Giants

For players who have been competing at the World Cup, the conclusion of their tournament will bring about a much-needed summer break. But for many, attention will quickly switch to the new Premier League season.

The 2026/27 campaign promises to be a thriller. Will Arsenal successfully defend their status as champions? Will one of Manchester City, Manchester United, or Liverpool usurp the Gunners? All that remains to be seen, but each team’s chance of success could change depending on who they sign in the transfer window.

Several clubs will have been paying close attention to the World Cup and scouting potential stars who could be difference-makers. For these three players in particular, a move to an English giant might be on the cards before the window slams shut on 1st September.

Ayyoub Bouaddi

Prior to the World Cup, Ayyoub Bouaddi had been making a significant impression in France with Lille. After thriving in the club’s academy, he made his Ligue 1 debut at just 16 years old, but his most recent season is where he became a key player for Les Dogues.

A dictator in midfield who can control the tempo and start attacks, Bouaddi showed an ability to thrive on the biggest stages while at the World Cup with Morocco. His height and composure are what make him such a good prospect, and at 18 years old, he is only set to develop into an even better player.

Real Madrid have been linked with the Moroccan, as they look to revamp their midfield, but English clubs are following him closely too. Manchester City are considered the favourites to sign him by various UK betting sites, while Arsenal and Manchester United are both thought to be fans of the engine room operator. However, any deal for Bouaddi won’t be cheap, after reports that Lille want in excess of £70m for their young star.

Crysencio Summerville

West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League last season meant that a number of their best players were expected to leave. That included Crysencio Summerville, who has provided interested teams with more food for thought after a successful World Cup campaign with the Netherlands.

The winger managed two goals and two assists during the tournament, including in the 1-1 draw against Morocco in the Round of 32. The Dutch might have gone on to lose that game on penalties, but averaging a goal contribution every match at the competition only helped to inflate Summerville’s stocks.

Still just 24 years old, there is room for him to grow, and that looks set to be at Old Trafford. Manchester United are the clear favourites to sign Summerville, with some reports indicating that he is the top target as Michael Carrick looks for a new option on the left flank.

Bradley Barcola

One of the more interesting sagas of the summer could involve Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola. He’s been linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes, having found himself behind Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the pecking order, and both Liverpool and Arsenal are thought to hold an interest in the French international.

Last season saw Barcola score 13 times in all competitions, but he’s gone on to play a key part of France’s push for World Cup glory. Two goals and an assist in six appearances does not tell the whole story, as his movement off the ball has provided the likes of Kylian Mbappé and Michael Olise the space to thrive, while his dribbling ability has also been on full display.

The 23-year-old might well want to leave PSG to play a bigger role, but the Parisians are reluctant to lose him. Nevertheless, a £100+ million bid could be enough to sway the club’s stance, so don’t rule a Premier League move out just yet.
