Premier League 2019-20 title race predictions

Despite being only two weeks into the season, the Premier League has already served up some tasty treats profiling which teams will succeed and those who could end up sinking. It’s still early days to decipher a clear contender for ending up as champions, but certain signs have been noticed towards what can be expected over the next eight months or so.

Manchester City, the undisputed two-time champions, are producing some exhilarating stuff worthy proof to their unbridled dominance in England’s top-flight and you can use this matchbook bonus code to back the champions to achieve a hat-trick of league titles. It’s almost scary how good they are under Pep Guardiola, whose conjured up a world-class outfit which will be almost impossible to dethrone.

With new signings Rodri and Joao Cancelo, there’s even more depth to the champions. The Spanish midfielder’s already proving an upgrade over Fernandinho with his tough-tackling attitude. To make things better, his calmness in possession, as well as distribution ability transitioning defence into attack, makes him an ideal disciple of the brilliant Spanish manager.

Raheem Sterling can’t stop scoring. Kevin De Bruyne is untouchable in possession. Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez tune up the unpredictable factor, while their strike-duo are still netting in strikes. Granted they dropped points early on against a resurgent Tottenham Hotspur side, but considering they attempted 30 shots on goal sheds light on their unreasonable strive for glory.

Over the next months, the Citizens are bound to get even better once the players find that unstoppable momentum. City’s closest competitors to the title are Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who’ve maintained their surge since winning their sixth UEFA Champions League crown back in June.

Amidst a few defensive lapses, the Reds have picked up from where they left off last season. Thanks to the German’s “heavy metal”, unrelenting attacking style, they’ve had a perfect start to the season with two wins in two. Mohamed Salah looks dangerous as ever with his flair and lethality still bewildering defenders, even three years after his Premier League return.

Sadio Mane is clinical as ever, while Roberto Firmino’s also chipping in with goals. Virgil Van Dijk’s still leading from the front with his impenetrable nature protecting their back-line. However, no acquisitions in the summer could end up being the bane to hold back Liverpool from fulfilling their Premier League prophecy.

Speaking of prophecies, Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs also fulfilled their own in the Champions League final. Despite coming up short, the fact that they defied expectations, overruling naysayers to go that far in Europe. With Tanguy Ndombele, Giovanni Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon’s signings, Spurs have furthered fortified their midfield core as well as adding more spice to their wings.

It’ll be difficult for them to maintain course with all their injury issues, but Spurs are looking the only real contenders to City or Liverpool for the title. A dark horse for the title could be their North-London rivals Arsenal, who’ve started the season impeccably. Their attacking force will win them games, but their defensive frailties can also cost them points which ultimately holds them back.

Realistically, there doesn’t seem any stopping to the Manchester City juggernaut. Guardiola is like a man possessed on the mission to match Sir Alex Ferguson’s record of winning the Premier League title thrice in a row. The Citizens will only get better and when they do, there’s little stopping them. Of course, Liverpool should give a tough fight as not many can deny them wins either, but could come up short again unless VAR has any say in deciding the title race.
