York City v Cheltenham Town, 19 August 2000

Neil Grayson's York City career stretched to only one substitute appearance back in 1991, but he returned to haunt his home town club with a two goal salvo. Cheltenham's leading marksman last term opened his 2000/01 account with a well struck left foot shot and the visitors could have gone into the break with a four goal advantage. Home goalie Alan Fettis continued to save Terry Dolan's men from further embarrassment but Grayson settled the issue close to the final whistle. Unfortunately it wasn't entirely a happy ending for the Town hero as his bravery in converting the goalmouth scramble resulted in injury that sidelined him for many weeks.
