Having finished leading scorer for York City in the 1999-2000 season, Barry found himself relegated to the subs' bench after just two games in 2000-01, and in November he moved to Colchester United on a long-term loan.
He immediately impressed the Layer Road faithful with his physical presence up front and scored eight goals in his stay with the Us.
The club were keen to buy him at the end of the season.
Barry is an effective striker who is able to undo opposition defences with his passing ability and close control and has a good eye for goal.
He joined Mansfield Town in January 2007 with a contract to the end of the season.
Barry joined Bradford City in July 2007 with a contract to June 2008 that was extended to December 2008 in May 2008.
After a loan spell, he joined Grimsby Town in July 2009 with a two-year contract before he was made available for transfer in January 2010.
After a loan spell, Barry joined Chesterfield in February 2010 with a contract to June 2010.
