Liverpool face tricky trip to Southampton as title race rumbles on

The Premier League season heads into the final few weeks with plenty of issues still to be decided at both ends of the table.

Liverpool kick things off on Friday evening as they travel south to face struggling Southampton. The Reds head into the game second in the standings, one point behind reigning champions Manchester City with six games to play.

Virgil van Dijk is expected to start the game after recovering from the ankle injury he suffered during last weekend’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Manager Jurgen Klopp’s other fitness concerns also appear to be easing, with Dejan Lovren, Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all back in training as they return from their respective injuries.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last five Premier League meetings with Southampton and punters can get the Ladbrokes promo code if they fancy them to extend that run at St Mary’s.

Saints have won their last two league matches, but remain just five points above the relegation zone. However, with a game in hand on most of their rivals, they will be confident of avoiding the drop.

Attention switches fully to the relegation battle on Saturday, with Burnley’s visit to Bournemouth the standout game.

The Clarets are currently five points clear of Cardiff City in the race to avoid joining Fulham and Huddersfield Town in the Championship next season.

However, Bournemouth have lost just four times at home this term and it’s difficult to imagine the visitors picking up anything from this one.

Burnley’s home fixture against Cardiff on April 13 is likely to go a long way to determining the third team to be relegated this season.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Leicester City are fancied to win at Huddersfield while Newcastle United can record their sixth home victory in a row when they host Crystal Palace.

There is just one game on Sunday, with fourth-placed Arsenal travelling to Goodison Park to take on Everton.

A victory for the Gunners would move them back above Spurs in the race for a Champions League spot. Arsenal have lost just one of their last nine league meetings with Everton and they are strongly fancied to pick up three points this weekend.

Chelsea will bid to boost their top four hopes when they face West Ham United at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening. The Blues are currently fifth in the table, one point adrift of Spurs.

The two sides fought out a goalless draw at the London Stadium earlier in the season, but Chelsea are expected to edge back into the top four with a victory on Monday.
