Is Kompany destined for Man City reunion?

Vincent Kompany was incredibly successful during his illustrious 11-year playing career at Manchester City, and the former Belgium captain is now making waves with Burnley as a manager. Kompany is destined to manage in the Premier League, possibly with Man City in the not-so-distant future.

Who will Burnley replace in the Premier League?

Kompany’s Burnley is well on the way to promotion to the Premier League, but who will be heading in the opposite direction? Looking at the latest Premier League betting markets, Southampton is the 3/10 favourite for the drop and then comes Bournemouth at 4/9. Nottingham Forest were many people’s Premier League betting tips for the drop before a ball was kicked this season, and the Reds are priced at evens for an instant return to the EFL Championship.

There will be plenty of thrills and spills in this fascinating fight for survival, with around eight clubs fighting for their Premier League lives. On the flip side, Burnley is nailed on to be a Premier League team next season, as the Clarets are miles clear at the top of the Championship table. Burnley brilliant under Kompany

Even though Burnley was one of the favourites to win the Championship title this season, the Clarets have shocked the second tier with their dominance.

Kompany’s troops have been the best team in the league by a country mile this term and have an unassailable lead over third place. Before the first international break of 2023, Burnley won at Hull City, which was their 24th victory of the Championship season.

Will Kompany return to the Etihad?

Kompany spent 11 successful seasons at Man City from 2008 to 2019. He led the club to their first league title in 44 years and was named Premier League Player of the Season in 2012.

He went on to win another three Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups, and two FA Community Shields. He left Manchester in 2019 and signed for Anderlecht, who he turned professional in 2004.  

Not many great players go on to become great managers, but Kompany has all the potential in the world. As a player, there were not much more experienced, and he has taken his leadership qualities into his managerial career.

Kompany was back at the Etihad Stadium in mid-March after his Burnley side was drawn against Man City in the FA Cup quarter-finals. The Clarets were hammered 6-0 by rampant City, but Kompany got an outstanding reception.

Pep Guardiola was full of praise and tipped Kompany to be Man City manager in the future. The Belgian is a hero at the Etihad, and managing his beloved Man City could be written in the stars.

First things first, Kompany’s full focus will be on securing Premier League promotion with Burnley. Winning the Championship would be a great achievement in his first year of management in England, and his stock will no doubt rise even further.
