Ambitious punters may be willing to take a punt on Chelsea finishing in the top two, but backing them to secure a top-four finish is the safer wager.
Everton – Top Ten
Everton’s decision to appoint David Moyes for his second stint as manager in January proved to be an inspired decision by the club.
They were one point above the relegation zone when Moyes replaced Sean Dyche, but ended the campaign 23 points above the bottom three.
Everton collected 31 points in 19 games under Moyes. Extended over a full season, the average points return would have been enough for an eighth-place finish.
With new signings on the cards and the club moving to a new stadium, the Toffees are worth chancing at odds of 2/1 to finish in the top ten next season.
Brentford – Relegated
Brentford have finished 13th, 9th, 16th and 10th since winning promotion to the Premier League, but could struggle next season.
Manager Thomas Frank has moved to Tottenham Hotspur, while several key players are being linked with moves elsewhere this summer.
Frank’s replacement Keith Andrews has never managed in the top flight and is an extremely risky appointment given his lack of experience.
Odds of 5/1 to be relegated have plenty of appeal given the circumstances at Brentford and could give punters a good run for their money.
Number of Promoted Teams Relegated
The three teams promoted from the Championship have been relegated in each of the last two seasons, but that trend could be bucked this time around.
Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland will all be eager to stay afloat in the top flight and one of them should achieve the feat.
Burnley and Sunderland will likely be out of their depth, but Leeds have the core of a squad which could push towards mid-table in the Premier League.
Punters who back two promoted teams to be relegated at odds of 10/11 may well secure a winning return at the end of the season.
