Five best European fixtures to watch In February

European football action is well and truly underway following the World Cup and we are just few weeks away before the knock-out stages of the Champions League, Europa League as well as the Europa Conference League.

Here are five best European fixtures to watch in February:

Barcelona vs Manchester United – Europa League last 32

There has been plenty of attention over the Europa League tie ever since the draw was made. Barcelona have been exceptional in La Liga this season and are currently top of the standings ahead of Real Madrid. They also beat Los Blancos in the Spanish Super Cup recently in convincing fashion.

Despite this, their Champions League campaign was pretty ordinary, picking up just one point in four meetings against Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. Hence, United should fancy their chances of an upset. They will be aiming to beat the Catalan giants for the first time since the 2008 Champions League semi-finals. They went on to win the trophy that year.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich – Champions League last 16

Paris Saint-Germain have been a dominant force in the French top-flight but are yet to replicate the same in the Champions League. Last season, they were in a commanding position with a 2-0 aggregate lead in the round of 16 second leg against Real Madrid before Karim Benzema’s stunning hat-trick to eliminate them.

Les Parisiens will be relieved that they don’t have to face Robert Lewandowski anymore at Bayern but the German champions can’t be underestimated. They have been free scoring even after the Pole’s departure and Les Parisiens will have to play at their very best to come on top next month. The French giants will be aiming to avenge the 1-0 defeat in the 2020 Champions League final.

Liverpool vs Real Madrid – Champions League last 16

Liverpool are probably fed up of the sight of Real Madrid, considering the latter’s dominance over them. The Reds have lost their last two Champions League finals against Los Blancos including last season where goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois came up with a masterclass performance between the sticks.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were also eliminated at the round of 16 of the 2021 Champions League campaign by Los Blancos. The Reds have not tasted success against their European rivals since 2009 and they face another difficult challenge this time around, considering their poor league form.

Inter Milan vs AC Milan – Serie A

Inter Milan and AC Milan were fighting it out for the Scudetto last season but there has been a drastic turnaround this term. Napoli seem to be cruising to their first Serie A title in four decades. The Naples outfit are currently 12 and 13 points ahead of Milan and Inter respectively.

Despite this, there will be plenty of attention over the fixture, considering both clubs now face the risk of missing out on the top four. Roma and Lazio are right on their heels at the moment and both Milan clubs will be desperate to come on top in the upcoming derby at San Siro.

Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid – La Liga

Real Madrid are currently three points behind leaders Barcelona in La Liga and it appears the title race could go down to the wire. Atletico are not in the mix with a 13-point deficit to the top but they have the opportunity to inflict a blow on their fierce rivals by beating them at the Bernabeu.

However, that is far easier said than done. Diego Simeone’s side have won just one of the last 13 league meetings against Los Blancos. Their last away win over their rivals came back in February 2016. Still, it won’t be a straightforward derby for Madrid and they will have to earn their victory. If you fancy a flutter on football, you might also be interested in trying your hand at an online casino – there are many games on offer to play on https://bitcasino.io/categories/live-game-shows or an online casino of your choice.
