Final PL matchday preview

The 2020-21 Premier League season draws to a conclusion on Sunday with all games kicking off at 16:00 BST.

Manchester City have already been crowned champions and the bottom three have already been relegated to the Championship, but three teams will be competing for the final two Champions League spots.

Here’s a preview of the most important games on Sunday:

Aston Villa vs Chelsea

Chelsea were beaten in the FA Cup final by Leicester City last weekend but bounced back to pick up a huge three points in the Premier League versus the same team on Tuesday night.

That puts destiny in the Blues’ hands as they are in third and one point above both Liverpool and the FA Cup winners. Victory at Villa Park will ensure Champions League football next season.

However, Thomas Tuchel does have the Champions League final to think about the following Saturday and Aston Villa have been no pushovers this season, thrashing Liverpool 7-1 and doing the double over Arsenal.

The Blues are very short odds to finish in the top four which is not an attractive price to bet on given the tricky final fixture. The updated Nevada online gambling guide can teach you to avoid such short prices for long-term success.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

Before the past couple of weeks Liverpool had looked like missing out on Champions League football. But Jurgen Klopp’s side are on course to pull off a miraculous escape.

Aided by Leicester dropping a lot of points in recent weeks, the Reds head into the final game of the season on top by four goals. Victory at home to Crystal Palace will be enough, provided the Foxes don’t run up a cricket score in their game.

Liverpool’s odds are as short as 1/7 to win this game as provided by this website. Whilst they have slipped up in the past, and to Crystal Palace of all teams, surely they will cross the finish line this time?

Leicester City vs Tottenham Hotspur

Three points aren’t even a guarantee for the FA Cup winners as they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Spurs will be looking for a win themselves that could give them Europa League football next season, a tournament that Leicester will drop into if they don’t finish in the top four.

Many players in this game will also be looking to impress their international managers in what will be their final club game before Euro 2020 later this summer.

Fulham vs Newcastle United

Newcastle United will start the day in 15th but could finish as high as 12th or as low as 17th depending on how their result compares to others’.

Steve Bruce has faced criticism all throughout his two years at St James’ Park but a victory at Craven Cottage on the final day would give them their joint-best points tally in the four Premier League seasons since their promotion from the Championship in 2017. They have finished 13th in the previous two campaigns.
