Europa League 2025/26 – Matchday 4 Preview

Aston Villa retained their place at the top of the outright market for the Europa League despite suffering a 2-1 defeat at Go Ahead Eagles in their last game.

Villa head into their upcoming home fixture against Maccabi Tel-Aviv tenth in the standings and will be keen to get their campaign back on track.

Fellow Premier League club Nottingham Forest face a potential banana skin in their latest Europa League outing against Austrian side Sturm Graz.

Jurgen Saumel’s team have lost twice on the road in this competition, but triumphed 2-1 against Rangers in their solitary home match.

Forest have picked up four points from their first three matches and will be desperate to keep pace with the top eight positions in the league phase standings.

After failing to get off the mark in the competition, Rangers face another tricky test against Serie A giants Roma at Ibrox.

Roma have been going well in the Italian top flight this season, although they did suffer a 1-0 defeat at AC Milan in their most recent outing.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side won 2-1 at Nice in their opening game in the Europa League, before slipping to narrow home defeats against Lille and Viktoria Plzen.

However, their squad is packed with talented players and they should possess too much quality for the Scottish Premiership underachievers.

Arch-rivals Celtic will have their work cut out when they travel to Denmark to face Midtjylland. The home side have rattled off three consecutive victories in the Europa League.

Braga and Lyon are the only other teams with a 100 percent record after three games. Braga host Genk on Matchday 4, while Lyon travel to Spain to face Real Betis.
