Crystal Palace vs Liverpool preview

Liverpool take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park Stadium on Saturday, with this Premier League game as well as all other games in football today easily available for live tracking during the week from your phone or your laptop.

The Eagles will enter the home contest on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw at Brentford.

Patrick Vieira’s side looked close to winning the away encounter after Eberechi Eze broke the deadlock in the 69th-minute.

However, they were cruelly denied full points at Brentford after substitute Vitaly Janelt scored with a superb header in the injury-time.

The draw leaves them 12th in the Premier League standings with 26 points from 23 matches.

Meanwhile, Liverpool suffered the worst-ever home loss in Europe on Tuesday against Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The Reds made a perfect start to the game as Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah scored to get them a 2-0 lead within the first 14 minutes.

However, everything went downhill for the home side after that as Vinicius Junior notched a brace to restore parity before half-time.

Eder Militao’s header gave Carlo Ancelotti’s side an early lead in the second-half before Karim Benzema scored twice to condemn their rivals to an embarrassing European defeat.

Match Preview

Crystal Palace

Palace haven’t performed well in the new year, with the South London outfit yet to win a match in 2023.

They have played seven top-flight matches so far this year, suffering three defeats and four draws.

Patrick Vieira’s side had the perfect opportunity to win their previous league encounter at Brentford after they scored the first goal in the 69th minute. But conceding a late equaliser saw them suffer their eighth draw this season.

Crystal Palace remain without the services of Wilfried Zaha who has been out since picking up a hamstring issue during the goalless draw with Newcastle United in January.

But they are still 12th in the league, with six points above the relegation zone.

Liverpool

There has been a lot of discussion about rebuilding Liverpool’s midfield but their defence hasn’t been very good either and look in need of reinforcements there.

The Reds conceded an incredible five goals against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie on Tuesday. Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Alisson Becker were all disappointing with their performances.

Jurgen Klopp’s side now face a mountainous task to keep their European hopes alive after the 5-2 loss at Anfield. It is very unlikely that they can now progress to the next round of the competition but Klopp is still refusing to concede defeat in the tie.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool prediction

Liverpool suffered a disappointing 5-2 defeat against Real but they are expected to return to winning ways at Crystal Palace. The Reds claimed back-to-back league wins at the expense of Everton and Newcastle United. Their defence doesn’t inspire much confidence and the Eagles should be able to score at least a goal, but we are backing Jurgen Klopp’s men to edge the contest. Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool
