Champions League 2025/26 – Quarter-final preview
Arsenal are the bookmakers’ favourites to lift the trophy after progressing to the quarter-finals with the minimum of fuss.
The Gunners were unbeaten during the league phase before defeating Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 on aggregate in the round of 16.
They are scheduled to face Sporting CP in the last eight and are strongly fancied to secure a place in the semi-finals of the competition.
If Arsenal navigate their way past the Portuguese side, they would face either Barcelona or Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals.
Barcelona were inconsistent during the opening phase of the competition, but flexed their muscles with an 8-3 aggregate victory over Newcastle United in their last-16 tie.
Hansi Flick’s side have the ability to tear teams apart when everything clicks into place, but their defence is susceptible to lapses in concentration.
Atletico could take advantage when they face their La Liga rivals, particularly if they can keep themselves in the tie heading into the second leg in Madrid.
Real Madrid are still in contention to lift the trophy for a record-extending 16th time after easing past Manchester City in the previous round.
Intriguingly, Bayern Munich are rated as the favourites to defeat Madrid over two legs, but the bookies could have made a misstep with their forecast.
Madrid have an excellent recent record against the Bundesliga outfit and look a good bet to book their place in the semi-finals.
The winners of that tie will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Liverpool in the last four. PSG demolished Chelsea in the last round and should be too strong for the Reds.

The reigning champions made Chelsea look distinctly ordinary in their last 16 tie and are fancied to mount a strong bid to retain the title.
Given that their array of attacking talent will likely prove too hot for Liverpool’s shaky defence to handle, it would be surprising if they failed to reach the semi-finals.
A potential meeting with Madrid or Bayern would not be easy, but PSG have the ability to deal with what either of those teams can throw at them.
Atletico could be the value bet to progress to the final from the other half of the draw, although Barcelona and Arsenal will undoubtedly have something to say about that.
