Thankfully, the 2020-2021 season has not suffered the same fate. Almost all football matches were able to take place in the English Premier League this season, not only that, but fans also got to enjoy the postponed EURO 2020 competition.
Unfortunately, the English Premier League is coming to a close this season, but what an amazing season 2020-2021 has turned out to be. It has been highly unpredictable, which has proved great viewing for football fans. Fans have been treated to some enjoyment and shock results to boot. However, from a betting perspective, it has been difficult as almost all teams have shown that they have the ability to win matches.
Thankfully, we have got it all to look forward to again next season. The 2021-2022 season starts in August, and we cannot wait to see some of our favourite teams play once more. Here are some of the matches we are looking forward to the most over the next few months:
1. Arsenal vs Chelsea
Lots of us look forward to Arsenal playing Chelsea. Well, the good news is that you will not have to wait much longer as the two teams will meet one another at the start of the 2021-2022 season, on Monday 23rd August.
The Chelsea – Arsenal rivalry, also known as the North West London Derby is stronger than most. In fact, they have been rivals for hundreds of years now. And although Arsenal has won more games in the rivalry’s history, Chelsea is not far behind. We cannot wait for these two rival teams to meet up once more.
2. Liverpool vs Chelsea
On Saturday 28th August Liverpool F.C. will meet Chelsea F.C. once more and it will likely be a game you will not want to miss. This is because Chelsea and Liverpool are both amazing teams with some amazing players. Not only that, but they have a long history of playing some brilliant football against one another.
However, when it comes to Liverpool and Chelsea, it is hard to decide which team will win, as they are both amazing teams. If we look at how well they have played during the 2020-2021 season, Liverpool has not played at their best, while Chelsea has been performing better than expected. Chelsea’s new change of manager seems to have given them a new lease of life. However, this does not mean that Liverpool will not come out and play at their best against one of their main rivals.
As you can see, deciding which team will win between the two is going to be difficult. And although Arsenal has won more matches against Spurs than Spurs have against Arsenal, it is hard to decide which team will come out top next season.
4. Leicester vs Man Utd
Over the last few years, we have seen Leicester City rise through the ranks to become one of the best Premier League football teams. However, Man United are another Premier League football team that always seems to do well and come close to the top of the league.
This means that when these two teams meet, we are likely to see some amazing football. This is why this is a game that cannot be missed. The last time these two teams met, in 2021, the match finished as a draw, with both teams scoring 2 goals each. Let us hope that they play just as well the next time they meet one another on Saturday 16th October.
5. Man Utd vs Liverpool
On Saturday 23rd October, two of the most popular teams in the Premier League will come together once more. The last time these two teams met, Liverpool were the winners, beating Man United 4-2. However, this could all change next season if Liverpool continues to play poorly.
Last season, Manchester United’s boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, vowed that his mission was to knock Liverpool off their perch, and it seems like he could do just that this year. However, odds suggest that both teams have a pretty good chance of doing well in the 2021-2022 season, so it will be interesting to see which of these teams comes out on top.
The COVID-19 pandemic affected football games around the world last year, with many being cancelled or postponed to a later date. This led to the 2020-2021 season being extended so that some of the missed games could be played. Unfortunately, this meant that teams were unable to complete their pre-season training, thus many teams were underprepared for their big matches.
Thankfully, the 2021-2022 season is not going to be extended, as coronavirus has had less of an impact this year. This means that teams will be able to attend their pre-season training sessions and summer camps. Hopefully, this will lead to some amazing games next season.
