Arsenal strong favourites to boost title hopes with win over Southampton

Arsenal are the red hot favourites to get their title charge back on track with a win over Southampton at the Emirates Stadium. Betting sites offer a variety of games to keep punters engaged, such as ramses book free video slot, but football fans will mainly be interested in betting on the match in North London on Friday night.

Understandably, the bookmakers are predicting a home victory as Arsenal are priced as the 1/6 odds-on favourites to claim all three points on home soil. The Gunners have been leading the way in the Premier League for the entire campaign and they are fully expected to ease to victory over the Saints.

However, Arsenal head into this match off the back of two hugely disappointing results as they let slip two goal leads against both Liverpool and West Ham to draw 2-2 at Anfield and the London Stadium. They were well placed in both games to collect vital wins, but had to settle for frustrating draws.

Mikel Arteta will be desperate to get back to winning ways on Friday as their lead over Manchester City is now down to just four points. The defending champions also have a game in hand and host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium next week, so the Gunners have to take this opportunity to extend their advantage with a win over Southampton ahead of that title-decider in Manchester.

The Saints head to the capital also in desperate need of points, but for very different reasons. They sit rock bottom of the Premier League table after failing to win any of their last six league games so another loss on Friday would put them a step closer to dropping down to the Championship.

Betting odds

Arsenal are the heavy 1/6 favourites to win the game at the Emirates. For those who predict a shock, you can back Southampton to win at odds of 14/1 while the draw is available at 6/1.

Bukayo Saka missed a crucial penalty to put Arsenal 3-1 up against West Ham last weekend, so he’ll be desperate to make amends against Southampton. The England international is 9/2 to open the scoring in this game.

Arsenal will be confident of scoring at least two goals at home to the leagues bottom club, but their defence has looked vulnerable in the absence of William Saliba. Southampton may fancy their chances of getting a goal but Arsenal should still have too much firepower at the other end. A 3-1 Arsenal win looks good value at 17/2.

No Saliba

Arsenal are once again expected to be without the services of Saliba. The Frenchman is still struggling to overcome a niggling back injury and football news sites suggests he won’t be risked from the start on Friday. Rob Holding should continue to deputise alongside Gabriel at the heart of defence.

However, there is better news on Oleksandr Zinchenko as he’s expected to return at left-back after missing the West Ham game with a minor groin injury. Kieran Tierney will make way. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny are out for the rest of the season.

As for Southampton, on-loan midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles will miss the game as he’s not eligible to face his parent club. Mohamed Salisu, Mislav Orsic and Juan Larios are also unavailable due to injury.

Predicted score

The pressure is on Arsenal to respond to their recent disappointments and this is a terrify opportunity to get back to winning ways. Southampton have been poor all season and should be no match for the Gunners – who’ve been outstanding this campaign.
