Beckett signed for Chesterfield during the 2000 close season in a deal that later attracted controversy.
He took a while to find full fitness and was sidelined with a thigh injury in October but, on his return, he showed why he was such a sought-after player scoring seven goals in as many games as the Spireites consolidated their position at the top of the table.
A striker with a proven scoring record he holds the ball up well, links intelligently with team-mates and is never afraid to go in where it hurts.
Beckett joined Sheffield United in November 2004 with a contract to June 2006 but was made available for transfer in June 2005.
He joined Huddersfield Town in July 2006 ina three-year deal.
