Lee Jones' five-goals equalled the club's individual record for goals scored in a League game. The feat was also achieved by TH Lewis in a 7-0 win against Crewe Alexandra on 20 September 1930 and Tommy Bamford in a 8-1 win against Carlisle United on 17 March 1934. Both matches were played in the Third Division (North).
