Comments:

This was West Bromwich Albion's biggest defeat in their opening game of a league season since at 0-3 loss against Manchester City at The Hawthorns on 10 August 2015. The Baggies now remained without a win in their last five league games (lost two). Along with Fulham and Leeds United's defeats on the previous day, the three newly-promoted teams had now all lost their opening game of the Premier League season for the first time since 2013-14 (Cardiff City, Crystal Palace and Hull City).

Comments:

At the seventh attempt, this was the first time that Leicester City had beaten a newly-promoted team on the opening weekend of a season in the top division. Jamie Vardy became the second player to appear in five away games in the Premier League against the same opponent and score in all of them (also Manchester United’s Ruud Van Nistelrooy at Newcastle United). Timothy Castagne became the first player to score on his Premier League debut for the Foxes since Islam Slimani against Burnley on 17 September 2016.
