Comments:

League position: 17th

Comments:

League position: 2nd Keeper Manuel Almunia was named in the starting line-up but was injured in the pre-match warm-up and withdrawn. It meant Arsenal were only allowed to name six of a possible seven substitutes. He was replaced by Jens Lehmann who was making his first Gunners appearance after a gap of nearly three years. At the age of 41 and 151 days, he was only eight days short of equalling Jackie Rutherford's record as the oldest Arsenal player in a senior game which has stood since 1926.
