This week in football

Most of the major European football leagues are finally recommencing this week bar a few, and some have gifted us some great games to look forward to. The Premier League continued without interruption over the Christmas period, while other leagues like La Liga and the French Ligue 1 enjoyed more than 3 weeks off sometimes even 4 in the case of the Bundesliga. This week some great matches with great odds await us. (more…)

Five divisions of 20 – Football League restructure proposal resurfaces

The Football League has released proposals that could see the domestic professional league system re-organised into five divisions of 20 teams from the start of the 2019-20 season. Nine yellow cards for Tottenham Hotspur against Chelsea

Accumulated debt in the Championship reached a staggering £1.1 billion last season, nearly double the amount England’s second division currently generates in revenue, so what gives? Despite pulling in £646.4 million in revenue this…

Does the fixture computer need a reboot?

It seems to me that when decisions are being made in football, whether it be on ticket prices, when games are played, venues for important matches, kick-off times and so on, that the fans are very low down on the list of considerations. This viewpoint was emphasised recently when the fixture gurus decided to send Carlisle United to play Plymouth Argyle on a Tuesday night! The life of a loyal football supporter is tough enough without adding to the challenge…
