The right-sided midfielder came to the fore with Nottingham Forest and with some startling displays managed to get called up for England before the Euro1996 competition.
Had some serious knee problems and other injuries put Steve's career on hold until good form once again earned him a transfer to Aston Villa.
He produced some fine displays for Villa in either wing back or right sided midfielder.
