Emblen featured regularly for Wolves in the early part of 2000-01, mostly being used in midfield or defence, although on one occasion he appeared as a makeshift striker. However after signing a new three-year contract he found it hard going and lost his place in the team before eventually returning to the line-up in April. A very versatile player he is effective in the air and makes determined runs with the ball. He is the brother of Wycombe's Paul Emblen.
Emblen's contract with Norwich City was cancelled by mutual consent in April 2003. He signed a new one-year contract at Walsall in May 2004.
