Darlington continued to show excellent form for Queens Park Rangers in 2000-01 despite playing in a struggling team.

He was mostly used as the right wing back in a 5-3-2 formation, but was equally successful when switched to a left-wing role in a 4-4-2 line-up.

He suffered a slight dip in form towards the end of the first half of the season, but reclaimed his place around Christmas and held on to it until the end of the campaign.

Darlington became the first player to play for both Wimbledon and AFC Wimbledon.
