Kachloul got off to a great start in 2000-01 with two fine goals in the opening game at Derby County to earn Southampton a 2-2 draw but then netted only two more goals all season. A talented attacking midfielder, he is at his best when cutting in from the left flank. He was out of contract in the summer of 2001 and joined Aston Villa.
