Comments:

League position: 1st Manchester United had now kept clean sheets in each of their their opening three league games of a season for the sixth time in their history, including the fourth time during the Premier League era. Romelu Lukaku failed in his attempt to become the first player to score in each of his first three Premier League appearances for United. The Red Devils were now unbeaten in their last 31 home games in all competitions (won 20); their longest such run since 2010-11. Manchester United manager José Mourinho said: "We can look into perspective. Last season we won against Leicester at home so that doesn't make a difference, but we had too many draws at home last season. The difference is the quality of our football, we're playing better today. If we hadn't won this match I wouldn't have anyone to blame."

Comments:

League position: 16th This was only the second time in 16 Premier League games under manager Craig Shakespeare that Leicester City had failed to score. The Foxes had now conceded at least two goals in four of their last six games in the Premier League. Kasper Schmeichel saved Romelu Lukaku’s 53rd minute penalty, so he had now saved more penalties in the Premier League at Old Trafford than his father and legendary Manchester United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel. Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare said: "I think we frustrated them for large parts of the game. When you come to Old Trafford in the form they are in, they will have big moments. We had our moments too, but could not see the game through. It was a harsh penalty, but a great save form Schmeichel."
