Comments:

League position: 2nd Since the season restarted following the suspension caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Manchester City had scored 15 goals and conceded two in the five games they had played in all competitions (won four, lost one). City had now scored 200 goals in their home games in the Premier League since manager Pep Guardiola’s appointment in July 2016. In his 150th appearance in the Premier League, Kevin De Bruyne had now scored more than ten goals in a league season for the first time in his career. Riyad Mahrez scored in added time at the end of the game but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review due to a handball offence.

Comments:

League position: 1st As this was Liverpool's first game after replacing Manchester City as Premier League champions, they were greeted on to the field of play prior to kick-off by a guard of honour. This was the first time that the Reds had trailed by three goals or more at half-time of a game in the Premier League since 24 May 2015 in a 6-1 defeat at Stoke City (5-0 at half-time). They had now lost five of their last nine games in all competitions (won three). Liverpool had now failed to score in five consecutive away games in all competitions for the first time since April 1992.
