Leyton Orient maintained their unbeaten start to 2000/01 to join Chesterfield at the summit of the Third Division on ten points after four games. It's a different story for Exeter whose team was completely revamped during the summer but is still searching for the winning formula. City got off to a great start in East London though when Alex Inglethorpe - who ended five years Os service in July - chased on to Steve Flack's flick from Arjan Van Heuden's clearance to put his old colleagues in arrears. The balance of power changed when home boss Tommy Taylor made a double substitution, and Orient were level on the hour with defender David McGhee's second goal for the Londoners. He directed Matt Lockwood's free-kick into the roof of the net with a forceful header from ten yards. Exeter - in their all purple change strip - were left marooned when Andy Roscoe sent Carl Griffiths tumbling in the area. Lockwood arrowed his spot kick to Van Heusden's right as Leyton went on to bag the points and receive a standing ovation from their fans.
