An attacking midfielder who can play up front, Alex appeared regularly for Exeter City in the early part of the 2000-01 campaign before falling out of favour and moving on loan to Canvey Island in December.
He featured for the Ryman League club in their FA Cup tie against Southend United and once back at St James Park he eventually won a recall to the Grecians team in February.
He was released in May 2001 and became joint assistant manager at Leatherhead.
Alex returned to Leyton Orient as youth team coach in January 2004 and was subsequently re-registered as a player on non-contract terms to provide cover for injuries.
