Comments:

League position: 1st Leicester City had now taken 18 points (or the equivalent from eight wins and two defeats) from their opening eight games of season in the top division for the first time in their history. It became their best eight-game start to a league season since 2008-09 in League One (19 points). The Foxes had now been awarded eight penalties after eight games of this Premier League season. The previous fewest games to be awarded eight spot-kicks in a season in the division was 16 in 2019-20 for Manchester United. Jamie Vardy had now scored in the Premier League against all 19 of the opposing teams in the division in the 2020-21 season. Leicester City were awarded a penalty after 13 minutes following a VAR review for handball. Jamie Vardy's penalty in the 39th minute was saved.
