Robson joined Chelsea from Northampton and moved on to Newcastle after a year. Robson returned to his native Tyneside from Chelsea as a replacement for Alan Suddick on the left wing. He was outstanding in the 1967-68 season when his 11 goals steered Newcastle towards European qualification for the first time. He later went on to make 559 appearances for Peterborough United.
