Nigeria's captain is a talented midfielder who possesses a powerful shot. He won his first cap against Ethiopia in July 1993 and is a veteran of both the 1994 and 1998 World Cup finals. He was also a member of the teams that won the African Nations' Cup in 1994 and the Olympic Games two years later. A match travelled player, he moved to Europe early in his career and has since appeared for Liege, Reggiana, 1.FC Koln, Ajax (where he was a member of the side that won a domestic league and cup double in 1997-98), Juventus and most recently Borussia Dortmund.
