Jones originally joined West Ham United from Billericay Town. Moved to AFC Bournemouth in October 1994 and returned to West Ham United in May 1996. Bristol City placed Jones on their transfer list at the end of the 2001-02 season. He joined Hornchurch as their player / coach in June 2002.
